With its flexible focal range of 18mm to 140mm, users can toggle easily between and utilise its wide-angle and telephoto zoom capabilities to capture the great vastness of scenes and also bring them closer to you, for the perfect shot.

All-comprehensive capabilities in a single lens

Stylish and reliable, the new lens adopts the Z mount system’s short flange distance and large diameter, striking a balance between high-power performance and portability. With its compactness and lightness, it makes a great choice for curious and adventurous photographers alike for brilliant optical performance throughout the entire focal range. The lens is perfect for capturing precious moments with loved ones, beloved pets, outdoor landscapes and wildlife, as well as portraitures with dreamy bokeh.

Weighing approximately 315g, the NIKKOR Z DX 18-140mm f/3.5-6.3 VR provides a minimum focusing distance of 0.2m at its maximum wide-angle position and excellent maximum reproduction ratio of 0.33× at the maximum telephoto position, allowing users to shoot a diverse selection of scenes hassle-free. By utilising the short minimum focus distance, it eliminates the need to keep a further distance from the subject and broadens the range of expression, allowing users to capture dynamic imagery when zoomed in for a close-up shot or zoomed out for a wide-angle shot, constantly in high-resolution.

With the in-lens Vibration Reduction (VR) system of up to 5.0-stops², photographers can effectively counter camera shake at lower shutter speed, allowing users to focus on framing their shots to acquire sharp images. Perfect for users to prioritise their efforts on framing the shots while the in-lens VR works hard to acquire sharp images. For flexibility, when using the Z 50 or Z fc camera, users will be able to activate Dual Detect Optical VR³ when paired with a VR-equipped lens which further reduces the chance of blurring.

The NIKKOR Z DX 18-140mm f/3.5-6.3 VR is able to render images excellently while minimising chromatic and spherical aberration, with the adoption of the extra-low dispersion (ED) glass and aspherical lens elements respectively.

With its wide focal range, users can shoot a myriad of subjects and scenes from close-ups to landscapes and achieve excellent resolution from edge to edge with a creamy bokeh in the background.

Feeling superior power in the palm of their hands, users will experience the lens’ autofocus system that utilises a stepping motor (STM) and a control ring which minimises recording of unwanted sound when filming. Combined with its focus breathing capability, which keeps the angle of view and exposure of images and videos constant even amidst changes to camera positions, the NIKKOR Z DX 18-140mm f/3.5-6.3 VR seamlessly delivers sharp images and videos that focus on the scenes being captured. Further seamless video creation can be achieved with the electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism – a diaphragm unit that has its own drive mechanism – to deliver precise aperture control and more stable exposure control with the integration of a gradual shift for smooth, natural changes.

Additionally, the lens also affords users the ability to better control the focus and brightness of their filming settings smoothly via a customisable control ring. Users can access and easily customise their preferred functions such as ISO sensitivity, aperture, or exposure compensation. Furthermore, the lens employs a new knurling pattern on its control ring, allowing smoother rotation and more precise operability on users’ intended functions.
